Fender Guitar Market Index
Track used Fender guitar prices and vintage Fender market movement across Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, and related Fender lines. Indexes start at 1000 in January 2015.
What this measures
The Fender modern index tracks used Fender guitars made after 2000 and updates monthly. The Fender vintage index tracks pre-1980 Fenders and updates quarterly because older instruments trade less often. Vintage results are grouped by recognized eras — blackguard Telecasters, slab-board Stratocasters, transition CBS, and the rest — so a 1955 Strat isn't averaged with a 1978.

The Fender Vintage Index focuses on pre-1980 Fender instruments and uses era buckets that match how collectors talk about the market: blackguard and whiteguard Telecasters, slab-board and veneer-board Stratocasters, transition CBS instruments, and late-CBS models.
It is not a replacement for valuing a specific guitar. Finish, originality, refins, replaced parts, and condition can move an individual vintage Fender far above or below the index. The index is meant to show whether the broader vintage Fender market is strengthening or softening.
