Highway One Strats were Fender's stripped-back U.S. models, built around thin satin nitro finishes and simple, aggressive player value rather than premium appointments. Their importance is that they offered a real American Strat feel at a lower price, with a lighter finish and more no-frills personality than the American Standard line of the same era. On the used market, finish wear is common and not especially damaging by itself, but changed pickups, missing hardware and poor fret condition drag prices down quickly. They are player guitars through and through, and honest, well-kept examples remain attractive value buys.
