The American Performer Stratocaster replaced the American Special as Fender's most affordable U.S.-made Strat line, aimed squarely at working players. Yosemite single-coils, Greasebucket tone shaping and the push-pull neck-on option give it more flexibility than a bare-bones American Standard descendant, while the modern neck and jumbo-fret feel keep it practical rather than nostalgic. On the used market, condition and originality are the primary drivers, and unmodified examples with the original gig bag tend to hold up best. It is a value-oriented U.S. Strat for musicians, not collectors, and that broad audience keeps the market active.
