Fender American Special Stratocaster
Aftermarket Price History
Used-market sales only. Brand New listings excluded.
The American Special Stratocaster was Fender's stripped-back U.S. value line, built for players who wanted domestic build quality without paying for the higher-spec American Standard. Texas Special pickups, jumbo frets and Greasebucket tone wiring gave it a more aggressive, less polished identity than the more neutral American Standard models sold alongside it. On the used market, originality counts most around the pickups and wiring because buyers are usually chasing the factory American Special recipe rather than a platform for modding. It is a straightforward player Strat, and clean examples usually represent solid value in the used U.S.-made market.

Market Report
Used examples typically trade between $800 and $925; anything under $775 is worth a close look. Prices are down 4.9% vs. 12 months ago. The market is predictable month to month.
This is a slow-moving market at ~5/month. Sellers may wait longer for the right buyer; don't expect a quick flip.
The market isn't particularly condition-sensitive (~12% spread). A player-grade example trades close to a clean one.
