Gibson SG Modern
Aftermarket Price History
Used-market sales only. Brand New listings excluded.
The SG Modern is the pitch for players who like the SG's weight and shape but want it to behave more like a current professional instrument than a heritage object. The attraction is less romance and more usability: smoother access, more flexible wiring and a cleaner sense of purpose. In the used market, that means the guitars that stayed factory-smart outperform the ones that were immediately treated as blank canvases.

Market Report
Used examples typically trade between $1,475 and $1,900; anything under $1,475 is worth a close look. Prices are down 8.8% vs. 12 months ago. Some price variation month to month, but within a normal range.
Turnover is steady at ~7/month. Supply is consistent enough that patient buyers can find options without rushing.
Condition has a moderate effect on price (~16% spread from clean to worn). Player-grade examples represent reasonable value.
Related models
Traditional-spec alternative at a similar price: classic SG feel without the compound radius or asymmetric neck.
Formal high-end step up: three humbuckers and multi-ply binding — a different kind of prestige at a higher price.
LP modern counterpart: same modern-spec brief with compound radius and push-pulls in the heavier carved-top body.
