The Flying V Custom is Gibson applying prestige treatment to a shape that already makes a statement before you touch it. That only works when the finish, binding and hardware feel deliberate enough to support the idea. If the guitar loses visual crispness, the whole point of the Custom version weakens faster than it would on a Les Paul.
