The American Vintage Stratocaster line was Fender's serious U.S. reissue program before American Original and Vintage II, aimed at buyers who cared about era-correct parts and feel. Lacquer finishes, period-correct necks, vintage hardware and model-year-specific pickup voicing are the differentiators here, and they explain why these guitars sit well above ordinary player-grade American Strats. On the used market, originality and year-specific accuracy are almost as important as condition, while changed hardware or rewired electronics can take a noticeable bite out of value. This is the reissue segment for players and collectors who want a true vintage-style Strat without buying an actual vintage Strat.
