Fender Player Mustang
Aftermarket Price History
Used-market sales only. Brand New listings excluded.
The Player Mustang is Fender's modern, affordable short-scale model, built for musicians who want a compact Fender that behaves like a straightforward working guitar. A 24-inch scale, hardtail bridge and simple Player-era electronics make it more direct and less idiosyncratic than the classic slider-switch vibrato Mustangs it visually references. On the used market, condition and pickup originality do most of the work, while colors help only when the rest of the guitar is clean and complete. It is one of the easiest Mustangs to recommend to non-collectors, especially for players who want short scale without full vintage quirk.

Market Report
Used examples typically trade between $525 and $625; anything under $525 is worth a close look. Prices are down 6.1% vs. 12 months ago. Some price variation month to month, but within a normal range.
This is a slow-moving market at ~6/month. Sellers may wait longer for the right buyer; don't expect a quick flip.

The direct upgrade: rolled fingerboard edges and refined pickups make the II a real improvement.
Vintage-spec step up: slider controls and Dynamic Vibrato for players who want the authentic short-scale Mustang experience.
The short-scale sibling at a similar price: hardtail, different pickup layout — worth comparing if you're short-scale shopping.
