The Jim Root Jazzmaster is a purpose-built metal and hard-rock interpretation of the shape, not a Jazzmaster for players who care about surf-era accuracy. A stripped control layout, humbucker-driven electronics, hardtail-minded stability and dark, minimal cosmetics are the defining traits, and they move it decisively away from the rest of the Jazzmaster family. On the used market, pickup originality and overall cleanliness carry more weight than color because most buyers are specifically hunting the Root formula, not just any black offset. It is one of the clearest examples of the Jazzmaster body being repurposed for a totally different player.

Niche market with consistent demand from players who want offset ergonomics with humbuckers and a hardtail bridge. The $1000–$1400 range is stable and has been for a while. Condition sensitivity is moderate — most buyers are players, not collectors.
Good liquidity for a signature model. You won't wait long to buy or sell one at a fair price. If the spec matches what you need, $1100–$1200 is a reasonable target for a used example in good condition.
