Estimated sale price
Middle 50% of sales: $2,750 – $3,550
Half of real sales land between $2,750 and $3,550. 1 in 10 sells below $2,550 · 1 in 10 above $4,150.
Highest verified sale of this model in our data: $50,000 (2019).
Based on 137 closely comparable sales.
This market is up ~41% since 2015.2015 → 2026
Estimates come from a machine learning model trained on ~24,450 verified Custom Shop sales (2015–2026). The curve shows the estimated spread of real sale prices: the shaded band is the middle 50%, and about 1 sale in 10 lands beyond each marked tail. Rare combinations (Masterbuilt one-offs, celebrity provenance, unusual customer specs) can sell far outside these ranges. For informational purposes only; not a substitute for expert appraisal.

How this estimator works
We train a gradient-boosted model (XGBoost, quantile regression) on 24,450 verified sales collected from Reverb, dealers, and auction houses between 2015 and 2026. The model predicts the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile of sale price from dozens of signals extracted from each listing.
On held-out sales the median estimate lands within 16.1% of the true price on average, and the typical range is calibrated — roughly half of real sales fall inside it, by construction. Estimates for rare combinations lean on the model rather than direct comparables; the comp count shown under each estimate tells you which regime you're in.
Below: SHAP values for the model — how much each feature moves the price prediction, per listing, across a 10,000-sale sample. Masterbuilt status, condition, market timing, seller size, and relic tier do most of the work.

Sale prices are verified transaction data, not asking prices. Grid predictions are evaluated at a reference configuration; secondary adjustments are applied client-side. Nothing you type here is stored.

Common questions
What is a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster worth used?
Most team-built Custom Shop Stratocasters and Telecasters — the Relic, Journeyman, NOS, and Closet Classic builds that make up the bulk of the market — typically sell used in the $2,500-4,500 range. Masterbuilt instruments carry a clear premium on top of that, and limited runs or celebrity-associated pieces can go much higher.
How much more is a Masterbuilt Fender worth than a team-built one?
A Masterbuilt instrument — built start-to-finish by one of the Custom Shop's named master builders — typically commands a meaningful premium over an equivalent team-built guitar, and the specific builder matters: pieces by long-tenured names like John Cruz or Greg Fessler trade above the Masterbuilt baseline. This estimator prices the builder individually where the data supports it.
Do relic guitars hold their value?
Yes — the used market treats Custom Shop relics as ordinary used Custom Shop guitars, not as damaged goods. Heavier aging tiers sell for somewhat more than light ones in our data, reflecting their higher original list prices. What actually moves resale value is the usual list: condition, case candy and certificate, and whether anything has been modified.
Does missing the COA hurt a Custom Shop Fender's value?
Missing paperwork costs real money — the certificate of authenticity and case candy are part of what buyers are paying for, and their absence typically knocks several percent off the sale price while making the guitar noticeably slower to sell. Keep the folder.
