This page covers vintage SGs from the early 1960s transition years through pre-2000 production, which means it mixes highly collectible small-guard guitars with much more affordable later working-player instruments. Early Standards, Customs and clean Specials lead the market, while most 1970s through 1990s SGs are priced more by originality, neck feel and structural health than by era prestige alone. The real separating line is not beauty but integrity: no hidden headstock drama, no mystery pickups, and no hardware story that forces the next buyer to reverse years of tinkering.
