Pawn Shop Strats came from Fender's oddball revival line, where the brand treated familiar shapes as platforms for alternate-universe designs. Nonstandard pickup arrays, unusual switching and hybrid hardware are the whole story here, which is why these guitars do not really compete directly with Player or American Professional Strats. On the used market, originality carries more weight than on many other mid-price Strats because the factory eccentric spec is what creates interest in the first place. They are best for buyers who want something recognizably Fender but less predictable than the mainline Strat catalog.
